What We Recycle

Recycling conserves resources, reduces pollution, saves energy, cuts greenhouse gas emissions, decreases landfill waste, and creates jobs, fostering a sustainable and economically robust society.

How You Can Save

CRV - BEVERAGE CONTAINERS

  • Aluminum Cans
  • Plastic bottles
  • Glass Bottles
  • Wine & Spirit Bottles

Approximately 274 billion beverage containers are not properly recycled each year globally. Every American contributes approximately 375 beverage containers to our landfills every year.

Aluminum is one of the most valuable recyclable materials. The Container Recycling Institute (CRI) estimates that billions of dollars worth of aluminum is lost each year when cans are not recycled. For instance, in the U.S. alone, the CRI estimated that about $800 million worth of aluminum cans were wasted in a recent year. This is not to mention what was wasted from beverage containers made of other materials.

Card Board

  • Corrugated Cardboard Boxes
  • Shipping Boxes

An analysis of household recycling bins indicates that, on average, 60% of their contents are comprised of cardboard.

As more consumers receive products delivered to their homes & businesses, the volume of cardboard waste has grown substantially. This trend has made cardboard boxes one of the most recycled materials, filling up curbside recycling bins, which often result in fines from municipal agencies, or means ordering larger or multiple bins.

Approximately 18.7 million tons (37.4 billion pounds) of cardboard and paper products end up in landfills in the United States each year. The surge in online shopping has led to a dramatic increase in the use of cardboard boxes for packaging and shipping.

Pallets

  • Wooden Forklift Pallets

Wooden pallet recycling is an important aspect of waste management and sustainability in the logistics and shipping industries. By reusing and recycling wood, fewer trees need to be cut down for new pallets. businesses can contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly supply chain.

Scrap Metals

  • Copper
    • Description: The highest quality of copper scrap, consisting of clean, uncoated, and unalloyed copper wire or cable, typically at least 16 gauge in thickness.
    • Uses: Often used in electrical applications, plumbing, and industrial machinery.
  • Copper Alloys
    • Description: Includes brass (copper-zinc alloy) and bronze (copper-tin alloy). These alloys are recyclable but are processed separately from pure copper.
    • Uses: Recycled for use in manufacturing new alloy products.
  • Scrap Steel
    • Description: General term for steel materials that are no longer usable in their current form and are collected for recycling.
    • Types: Heavy Melting Steel (HMS): Divided into HMS 1 (no galvanized or blackened steel) and HMS 2 (can contain galvanized and blackened steel).
    • Old Steel (Obsolete Scrap): Includes worn-out products like old cars, appliances, and structures.
    • New Steel (Prompt Scrap): Generated from manufacturing processes and is typically clean and uncontaminated.
  • Carbon Steel
    • Description: The most common type of steel, primarily composed of iron and carbon.
    • Uses: Widely used in construction, automotive manufacturing, and industrial applications. Recycled carbon steel can be used to make new structural components and machinery.
  • Stainless Steel
    • Description: Contains chromium, which makes it resistant to corrosion and staining. It may also contain nickel and other alloying elements.
    • Uses: Commonly used in kitchenware, medical instruments, and construction materials. Recycled stainless steel retains its properties and can be reused in similar applications.

Steel is one of the most commonly recycled materials due to its versatility and the ease with which it can be reprocessed. Here are the main types of recyclable steel:
